    One Cover Letter Too Many
    Dear [Employer],

I am writing to apply for the [job] position at your institution. Between my work and school experience, I believe that I would be a good fit for this job.

Throughout my career, I have been ldafoeatemabeses and oalembembects. Reseaons, being, the beings are out being outer beings space is not so vast as space is notlow olow boelow the earth. All compressed, a tempest in a Dixie cup. Lava and mole men and aliens FIGHT and love and fight again. Where do they come from, if not from the pages of the secret collections? Who manages these connections? Living fractals, reaching and blobbing and sckanning sctretches and miles of paperiess and papyrus, shelves upon infinate reaoocurrong shelves recursively identifying passages to the center of the earth / our earth? not so certainly; alients have hearths in their ears, earths in their fears, they come from their own subconsciouses to devour and fly down down down down down down down down down

    HTank you for your consideration,

    -Lava That Lies

Share the Love: Zoë Keating - Into the Trees
Zoë Keating is a one-woman-band, recording and layering cello tracks in real-time to create lush, beautiful, soundscapes. "Optimist" is a free track off of her most recent album, "Into the Trees". Other tracks from her album can be streamed directly from the album website, and the album itself can be downloaded directly for only $8. (CDs and "Deluxe Edition" CDs are also available.) These songs have made it into my regular rotation. Resin and wood, drawn bow and taut strings. Beautiful stuff.

[When I can't support a deserving artist, designer, or business with my money, I can at least spread the word. Share the love!]

    Odin = Nick Fury. )

In real-life news, things are going pretty well. Our house, garden, and neighborhood continues to be awesome. I'm full-time on the job hunt. Right now, I'm concentrating my search on jobs that I actually want. I'm sure that I can get a "jobby-job" if I need one, but I'm not quite there yet.

    No Net
To Whom It May Concern: My and [info]karjack's net went out last night. I'm at school now; I have high hopes that it'll be up by the time I get home this evening. Not like a huge tragedy or anything, but still really, really annoying.

Phone service doesn't switch over until Monday morning; internet doesn't switch over until Monday afternoon ("before 5 pm" they say). If you need to reach [info]karjack or myself in that time, try the cell phone. (And we'll try to remember to keep it turned on!)

I Like To Move It Move It
On the off-chance that somehow, you're not already reading [info]karjack's journal:

We're moving! We'll still be in town, but with dramatically improved surroundings. Bigger space, quieter neighborhood, close to the river. It's just a duplex, but it seems palatial after living in this Cracker Jack box for 12 years. Plus: A backyard! Plus: Landlords we can actually communicate with! Plus: A garage we can use for storage! Plus: No leafblowers right outside our windows every other day! Plus: Did I mention the bigger space?

So all in all, very exciting. We're schlepping stuff over bit by bit, and hope to be moved in completely by the end of the year. Yay!

Now, I haven't moved in 12 years, so I'm a little rusty. Anyone have any moving tips or tricks to share? Little details it's easy to forget? Let me know!

    AmberCon NW 2009
Here's what I'm running this year:

Sea Dracula. It'll be in an evening slot, probably Friday evening. Game will start an hour late to give all the players a chance to hit the bar first. (It'll help, trust me.)

The Kolvir Prince, an adaptation of The Mountain Witch. This'll be a long game, probably taking both the Friday morning and the Friday afternoon slots.

If the con is still hurting for games, I might run a slot of InSpectres. It would probably conflict with the games I want to play, though.

For you "Friday Morning Board and Card Game" fans, never fear; I hear that Jason is picking up the slack.

Q: What will Pjack be doing summer term? (Aside from going to school full-time?)

A: He'll be designing outdoor geological maps for blind kids.

    Extra Credit Question
Extra credit question on my Geography midterm yesterday:

"Name the organism that fixes atmospheric nitrogen into the soil."

    My answer:

    "Steve."

    ...

To be fair: They did ask me to name it.
